The election of the new APUCEN Council Members for the 2025-2027 term was a highlight of the APUCEN General Assembly, held on December 19, 2024, in Chongqing, China. This pivotal moment brought together 42 representatives from 20 member institutions to deliberate on the future leadership of APUCEN. The assembly, chaired by the Executive Director of APUCEN, began with the presentation of various reports, including a review of APUCEN’s activities, updates on membership growth, and other essential matters. These presentations provided a comprehensive overview of the network's achievements and aspirations, setting the stage for an informed election process.
During the election, each APUCEN member institution was granted one vote, with the mandate to select five universities from Malaysia and seven universities from outside Malaysia. The process was conducted transparently, ensuring all voices were heard and every vote counted. The outcome of the election was met with unanimous agreement, reflecting the shared vision and unity among the members.
The newly appointed Council Members for 2025-2027 represent a diverse and distinguished group of institutions. Universiti Sains Malaysia, led by Prof. Dato’ Seri Ir. The council includes esteemed representatives from 10 other institutions across the Asia-Pacific region, such as Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and international members like Chulalongkorn University, Universitas Surabaya, and San Pedro College. This diverse composition of leaders underscores APUCEN’s commitment to inclusivity and global collaboration.
The General Assembly also celebrated APUCEN’s growing membership, which, as of 2024, stands at an impressive 106 institutional members from 21 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. This remarkable milestone reflects the trust and support of universities, educational institutions, and NGOs in APUCEN’s mission. By fostering partnerships in education, health, agriculture, and innovation, APUCEN continues to strengthen the bond between universities and communities, driving sustainable development across the region.
With the new council in place, APUCEN is well-positioned to build on its legacy of impactful collaborations.
